Affiliate Disclosure

Draft for review. The bracketed details need completing before publication.

Swiss City Breaks is free to read. We pay for it through affiliate commission, and this page explains exactly how that works — the Competition and Markets Authority and the Advertising Standards Authority both require that disclosure to be clear and easy to find, not buried.

What an affiliate link is

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to book, the merchant pays us a commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be going direct — the commission comes out of the merchant’s margin, not your pocket.

Who we work with

We take part in affiliate programmes operated through Awin, and with accommodation and travel providers including Booking.com and Expedia. [ADD OR REMOVE PARTNERS AS THEY ARE SIGNED.]

How we mark them

Pages containing affiliate links carry a visible disclosure. Where a page is paid for outright rather than earning commission, we label it as advertising or a paid partnership, in line with the CMA’s guidance on hidden advertising.

What commission does not change

  • We choose what to include on editorial grounds. A hotel does not get listed, or listed higher, because it pays more.
  • We do not accept payment for a positive review.
  • Where we import listings from a partner feed, inclusion is automatic and driven by availability, not by commission rate. Our own recommendations are marked as such and are written by us.
  • If we would not recommend somewhere, we say so, whether or not there is a commission attached.

Prices and availability

Prices shown on this site come from partner feeds and are indicative only. They change constantly, and the price at the point of booking is the one that counts. Always check the final price, the cancellation terms and what is included on the merchant’s own website before you book.

Your contract is with the provider

We are a guide, not a travel agent. We do not sell travel, take payments, or hold client money, and we are not an ATOL or ABTA member. When you book, your contract is with the hotel, restaurant, railway or travel provider, and their terms and cancellation policy apply.

Tracking

Affiliate links rely on cookies to attribute a booking to us. We only set them where you have consented. You can decline them and use the site normally — see our privacy policy for detail.
